Children and families act 2014

William Merritt Disabled Living Centre supports the new Children and Families Act 2014

The intention behind the new Children and Families Act 2014, is to transform the system for children and young people with special educational needs (SEN), including those who are disabled, so that services consistently support the best outcomes for them. It gives children, young people and their parents’ greater control and choice in decisions and ensuring needs are properly met. This includes requiring councils to publish a ‘local offer’ showing the support available to all SEND children and young people and their families in the area:

The Leeds Local Offer will reflect all services and support that is available to children and young people with SEN or a disability and their families at a local level.
